The Naso Tang, also known the Orangespine Unicornfish, is an active saltwater fish that requires plenty of swimming room and is suitable for either reef aquariums or fish-only-with-live-rock aquariums. Hawaiian Naso Tangs are typically more brightly colored than Naso Tangs collected in other locations. Juveniles have a grey colored body with a blue stripe travelling along the dorsal fin and an orange stripe on the anal fin. As the fish matures into an Adult Naso Tang , the body color can turn a darker reddish brown while the tips of the tail can elongate to create a lyretail shape. A saltwater fish or reef tank of at least six feet in length is recommended. Provide hiding places large enough to accommodate the Naso Tang. While Tangs will feed on meaty foods such as brine shrimp and krill, it is necessary to supplement the diet of all tangs with a algae and plenty of Live Rock for grazing. Like most Tangs, the Naso Tang may become territorial with other tangs but rarely bother different types of fish commonly found in a home aquarium. Diet should include plenty of algae based flake or pellets, nori, and fresh greens. Will also accept most small meat items such as mysis and pieces of krill. Maximum Length: 18 in.
