This fish can be found in the wild perched on acropora colonies. Pairs will mate and lay their eggs on the underside of the coral. They are known to produce a toxic mucus as a defensive mechanism which larger predatory fish are aware of and avoid making them a meal. Usually docile, but may become territorial especially towards conspecies. Provide plenty of live rock with places to hide. Does best in a reef environment with branching sps corals, or fake branching corals. Diet should include mysis and brine shrimp, as well as other small chopped frozen seafoods.
